Featured in this lot is this 10000 B.C. Mississippian point and artifact collection. The collection features a wonderfully and professionally crafted quartz mined material. There are are a total of 19 total points with two buttons and four artifacts with a claw in this collection. This arrowhead collection #1896 was found in c. 1960 in a stream-valley of the East Fork of the Tombigbee River in Itawamba county of the north-east Mississippi. Artifacts of this region were made from a quartz rock formatino referred to by some collectors as red-jasper. The ealiest known inhabitants of this area were the Siouans with the descendents included Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw and Chickasaw with the latter tribe dominating the upper Mississippi area. This collection comes complete with a Provenance pamphlet from 1983. The condition of this framed collection of points and artifacts is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this framed collection of points and artifacts range from 5/8" x 1/2" to 2" x 1".
