There is something exciting happening in the world of desert bighorn sheep. Long known for its precious few numbers and for its equally precious hunting permits; desert bighorn sheep numbers have been slowly increasing and nowhere is this more true than in Chihuahua Mexico. This year one tag will be issued for this population that was started with the genetics from Tiburon Island.
Jose Antonio Vallina a businessman and hunter started Rancho La Guarida in 1982 where he built a beautiful lodge and started developing water sources for the native wildlife and in 2000 he was finally able to bring in the first wild sheep, additional sheep came in 2002 and 2003 – some from Tiburon Island and some from other sources. Originally the sheep went to a 10,000 acre ranch that was partially high fence and now the ranch has added another 10,000 acres that are completely open.
The lambing success has been exceptional due to the excellent habitat and genetics and we now have a herd of around 250 sheep, with about half of them being rams so hunters can expect to harvest rams in the 175 – 190 category.
The permit is for December 2014 to March 2015 hunting season. After the hunter arrives in Chihuahua City, everything will be arranged for them in the very finest tradition of Mexican hospitality. The hunt is for 10 days and one companion can join the hunter at the bid price. Additional companions can be included at an additional charge.
The donor has several rifles to choose from or the hunter can bring his own, the ranch owner will take care of all the necessary permits, including the CITES permit.

Shipping arrangements and payments are to be made solely by the winning bidder with the shipper of their choice. The Boone and Crockett Club assumes no responsibility or liability of shipped items. Any bid made at a Boone and Crockett Club auction, whether in person at a live auction, by phone, on-line or at a silent auction, constitutes an unconditional offer to buy the item in question at the price bid. Unless a higher and subsequent bid is made, your bid creates a binding contract of purchase, obligates you to sign the bid ticket or, in the case of a phone bid, authorizes the person who took the bid to sign on your behalf AND requires that the bid amount be paid prior to the close of the auction.
Any failure of compliance with the provision above will result in the addition of any costs incurred because of non-compliance, plus the addition of interest at the rate of 1% per month, or portion thereof, that payment is late.

The goods sold in both the live and silent auctions are sold “AS IS” with all faults and defects, and without any express or implied warranty on the part of the Boone and Crockett Club. The Boone and Crockett Club provides no warranties of fitness and expressly disclaims the same. The Boone and Crockett Club does not accept any liability or responsibility for any product, design, or use. Any written warranties on the goods delivered to the high bidder are those solely of the manufacturers, and/or their agents, and shall be the sole liability and responsibility of the manufacturer.
All services, hunts, or otherwise, in the live and silent auctions and fundraising areas have been acquired for and are to be furnished by third parties and contain the same reservation set forth under “goods” above. No services in the live auction are to be or will be performed by the Boone and Crockett Club. The Boone and Crockett Club shall bear no responsibilities for the delivery or quality of any of the services, or for any loss or damages arising from or related to or connected with the performance or non-performance of such services. The purchaser also acknowledges that in the event that services are purchased, the Boone and Crockett Club cannot be responsible for or liable for any political unrest or instability that may occur outside the United States. The Boone and Crockett Club cannot be accountable for any injuries or damages that may arise there from.
It is the legal responsibility of the permit buyer/holder to familiarize themselves with, and abide by, the game, outfitting, guiding, firearm use/importation or other applicable laws in the state, province or country they are hunting.
