Woolly Mammoth Tusk fossil ivory & Hair specimen – Ice Age (Mammuthus primigenius) over 10,000+ years old, from Yakutia, Siberia in Russia. 25-30mm tusk fragments with approx 8 small strands of hair, encased in small 3 1/2" square museum display with info cards. From the John Humphries collection, Tombstone, Arizona. - The woolly mammoth is an extinct species of mammoth that lived during the Pleistocene until its extinction in the early Holocene epoch. It was one of the last in a line of mammoth species, beginning with Mammuthus subplanifrons in the early Pliocene. The woolly mammoth diverged from the steppe mammoth about 400,000 years ago in East Asia. Its closest extant relative is the Asian elephant. The appearance & behavior of this species are among the best studied of any prehistoric animal because of the discovery of frozen carcasses in Siberia and Alaska, as well as skeletons, teeth, stomach contents, dung, & depiction from life in prehistoric cave paintings. Mammoth remains had long been known in Asia before they became known to Europeans in the 17th century. The origin of these remains was long a matter of debate, & often explained as being remains of legendary creatures.

We've been working very hard to revamp our warehouses and inventory supply chain to bring our bidders something they've been asking for over the years. This also includes complimentary insurance coverage up to $100 in value.
Items weighing more than 5lbs or shipped outside the contiguous USA or having a value more than $100 will be billed at discounted USPS and UPS shipping rates and will show as a quoted line-item on your final winning invoice.
We handle shipping internally to best secure and insure your won lots. Please allow 3-4 weeks to receive your items depending on where you are in the world relative to the item(s) you won at auction.
Larger items (those items larger than 24" or weighing more than 41 pounds) may need to be picked up locally or arrange for local pickup or your own freight using a service like uShip. There is a $50/docking/loading fee for local pickup of items and we do require 24-48 hour notice as we have warehouses all around the world and need to coordinate for pickup at each one depending on your location. We can help coordinate logistics but the primary responsibility for claiming your new possession(s) is on you, the winning bidder.
Items not coordinated for pickup within 45-days of winning the item at auction will be stored at $5/day until picked up or until the full value of the item has been absolved in storage fees at which point the item will become the property of Connoisseur to resell or dispose of as it deems best.
IMPORTANT: There will accordingly be three line-item fees on your winning bidder invoice to note:
