1 DIVISION ONE VERY RARE SILVER RESIST PORCELAIN BUTTON
1 Very large & very rare 19th century pictorial porcelain button. This large and thick porcelain has so much going for it. It is one I consider the rarest of all silver deposit buttons I have ever seen. The button depicts children playing "Blind Mans Bluff". The hand painted scene is very colorful and has the silver deposit technique employed. Silver deposit or as some say, silver resist is a process whereby actual Sterling silver is overlaid over the fired base in this case porcelain. The silver continues in lines to the back and the shank, often only one line, in this case two. If you were to pull that silver line up it would pull the entire silver sheet off the button.
