<Our item number 119406><B>Great Britain. Shilling, ND.</B> S.2799. Charles I, 1625-1649. Mint mark triangle. Group F. Sixth large Briot&#39;s bust. Type 4.4, with lace collar and double arched crown. <I>Reverse</I> Square topped shield over cross. Crudely made hammered Charles I Tower Mint shillings just don&#39;t come better than this. Many of the &#39;hoard&#39; coins secreted away during the Civil War period are weakly struck, misshapen and subsequently cleaned. this is a selected, fully round specimen which has been carefully made and then retained in a numismatic collection since the mid-17th century. Delightful pastel blue old cabinet toning complements the traces of original luster.
