c1895-This photograph is an example of a typical racist propaganda piece. The antebellum wedding scene depicted includes a bedraggled looking minister character presiding over the ceremony, a bride in a soiled dress, an old drunk-looking man in filthy clothing as the groom, and other details. The walls also bear roughly lettered signs meant to look like ebonic script: "De Lawd Lub/ De Curfel/ Giver" and "Lebe Yo Nazzer/ At De Do/ Deakon Jones". This 7" x 11" photo is in good condition for its age, and shows some age related fading and curling. This is likely a cropped copy of a Prosperity Whiskey advertisement from the Bernheim Distilling Company of Louisville, KY, circa 1897. An original ad would measure 27" x 27". HKA#61115
