Maker Ed Gilmore N Hollywood, CA. Silver plaque reads To Joanne and Monte Hale from Gene Autry 1940-1953. Floral carved with Cheyenne roll and 15" seat. In excellent condition with a jute rope attached. Includes custom-made saddle stand with carved wooden initials MH and JH in red wooden letters. Ed Gilmore was a popular saddle maker in the San Fernando Valley on Ventura Blvd in Los Angeles, c 1930-50s. He was a good friend of Gene Autry's and made many of the saddles used in Autry's popular Madison Square Garden Show which ran from 1940-1953
