An exquisite and historically inspired saber sword belt custom-made for Joaquin Phoenix in his portrayal of Napoleon Bonaparte in Ridley Scott’s epic film Napoleon (2023).
This striking belt is crafted in the style of early 19th-century French imperial military regalia, featuring a rich black velvet base adorned with elaborate gold bullion embroidery in a repeating laurel leaf motif, symbolic of victory and authority. The belt is bordered with intricately woven gold trim and anchored by a prominent rectangular brass buckle engraved with the initials “NB,” representing Napoleon Bonaparte. The buckle exhibits a warm, aged patina consistent with production use.
Designed to support a saber, the belt includes attached suspension hangers with adjustable straps and metal rings, allowing for the secure carriage of a sword at the hip. The reverse reveals black leather construction with visible stitching and production markings, including handwritten notation reading “NAP. S.P. HERO,” identifying it as a hero belt used for principal photography.
Accompanied by an original production wardrobe tag from Marengo Costume, the belt is labeled:

Bidder and Icons of Pop Culture agree that any agreements between the Bidder and Icons of Pop Culture including but not limited to these Conditions of Sale are entered into in Mason County, Kentucky, which is where the agreements are to be performed and the auction to take place, no matter where Bidder is situated and no matter by what means or where Bidder was informed of the auction and regardless of whether catalogs, materials, or other communications were received by Bidder in another location. Both Icons of Pop Culture and the Bidder agree that any disputes under these Conditions of Sale, the subject matter hereof, the entering into, or any aspect of the auction, shall be exclusively governed by Kentucky law, and that any and all claims or actions shall be brought and maintained only in Mason County, Kentucky in a State or Federal Court to the exclusion of any other venue, locale or jurisdiction. All parties submit to such jurisdiction.
Opening Bid Prices: Our Icons of Pop Culture auctions do not use estimate pricing, only a starting minimum bid price. Opening bids do not include the buyer’s premium, shipping, or sales tax.
Reserves: Our Icons of Pop Culture auctions do not use reserves, so the opening price is where bidding starts, and the highest bidder will win the item.
Buyer’s Premium and Sales Tax: The actual purchase price will be the sum of the final bid price plus the buyer’s premium of 26% of the hammer price. Florida and Kentucky sales tax shall automatically be added to the purchase price for FL and KY residents, unless exempted.
Before the Auction: Bidders are encouraged to send inquiries pertaining to the auction as a whole and/or individual lot. You may also request condition reports. Icons of Pop Culture strongly urges the bidder to resolve any questions PRIOR TO BIDDING.
Bidding: Property is auctioned in consecutive numerical order, as it appears in the catalog. Icons of Pop Culture shall determine all opening bids and bidding increments. The auctioneer will accept bids from those present in the salesroom or absentee bidders participating by telephone, Internet or by written bid left with Icons of Pop Culture in advance of the auction. The auctioneer has the right in its absolute discretion to reject any bid in the event of dispute between bidders or if the auctioneer has doubt as to the validity of any bid, to advance the bidding at its absolute discretion and to determine the successful bidder in the event of a dispute between bidders, to continue the bidding or to reoffer and resell the lot in question. In the event of a dispute after the sale, Icons of Pop Culture’s record of final sale shall be conclusive.
Internet Bids: Icons of Pop Culture is not and cannot be responsible or liable for any problems, delays, or any other issues or problems resulting out of use of the Internet generally or specifically, including but not limited to transmission, execution or processing of bids. On some occasions beyond the control of Icons of Pop Culture, bid software or the Internet itself may not physically keep up with the pace of the auction. In order to help avoid disappointment, Icons of Pop Culture recommends placing a realistic absentee bid early.
Successful Bids: The proverbial fall of the auctioneer’s hammer indicates the final bid. Icons of Pop Culture will record the paddle number of the buyer. Winning bidders shall be notified with an invoice within 48 hours after the conclusion of the auction.
Certificate of Authenticity: For each lot, Icons of Pop Culture will supply a certificate that features the items production name and description, along with a tamper-evident, anti-counterfeit security hologram sticker and unique serial number for future reference. If there are multiple items sold together as a lot, there will be one COA supplied to cover all items as listed in the description. COAs are not supplied with promotional items, or other items not used in the production itself.
Payment: Payment is expected in full within 7 calendar days of the sale. We accept PayPal online payments, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, bank wire transfers, cashier’s check, money orders or personal check. PayPal allows you to pay via a bank account or credit card. All payments made by personal check, cashier’s check and money order will require a bank funds clearance before items will be released for shipping. Payment plans are available, please see the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on the website.
Shipping: Buyer pays all shipping costs. Icons of Pop Culture will ship items in-house dependent upon size or type. Icons of Pop Culture will use either FedEx or USPS for all shipping with the exception of “Special shipping required” items. For all international shipments, the buyer is responsible for all customs, duties, taxes and fees. Lots, or site items with “Special shipping required”
Icons of Pop Culture will not ship lots that specify, “Special shipping required” in their description. This requires the buyer to contact a 3rd party shipping company to arrange for a pick up. If you are in need of 3rd party recommendations, we can provide you with a list.
Buyer’s Remedies: Icons of Pop Culture does not accept returns. All sales are final. All property and lots are sold “as is” and “where is”. Any cancellation of a purchase based on a payment plan must be approved by Icons of Pop Culture, and will result in store credit only, excluding the value of the 25% non-refundable deposit – no cash refunds.
