Colt single action army revolver, .45 colt caliber, 7-1/2” barrel, U.S. Cavalry series inspected by R.A.C., blue and case hardened finish, cartouched wood grips, in near excellent original condition, serial number “137531”. The barrel retains approx. 90-95% original arsenal blue finish, just starting to thin and tone slightly with correct feathering at muzzle, and just some minor loss at the muzzle. The barrel is inspected by RAC and show P proof and is serial numbered to match with correct ejector rod housing, spring, and boss. The cylinder shows RAC P inspection and is serial numbered to match. The cylinder shows 60-80% original blue, thinning at the edges, some drifting, an index line, and beginning normal age. The frame shows 60-70% case hardening, just starting to drift to silvery grey with some erosion and pinprick pitting developing on the right side, but still very colorful with some areas of fiery areas. The backstrap and trigger guard show 85-95% original blue, normal drifting, candy striping. The grips are in fine condition with JEB cartouche and “1891” on left, “RAC” on right, fit impeccably and show just some slight handling and a beautiful original light color. Just some slight handling and very minor storage. The hammer shows 75-85% case hardened colors. The action is tight, the interior near excellent, the front sight is its full height. All matching visible serial numbers, proper inspections and sub inspections, along with factory letter indicating 1 of 200 sold to the U.S. Government July 20, 1891. A very impressive cavalry Colt, worthy of a top collection. Est.: $27,500-$55,000.
