A circa 1950s Gibson GA-40 Les Paul amplifier, with its 6V6 driven power circuit which puts out about 15 watts of warm tube tone. This particular amp has been fitted with a beefier vintage alnico Altec speaker. The original handle is fastened with rope. The amp has tremolo and includes the original tremolo footswitch. An easy upgrade would be to convert the original un-grounded A/C cable to three-prong. While Gibson guitars are a household name, their amplifiers seem to fly under the radar to most guitar players. Gibson does have a spotty amp lineage and there are certainly lackluster models—however, the GA-40 is not one of them. In fact, the '50s era and early '60s models are probably the best amps they ever made. A very nice example.
