Civil War albumen photo of several identified Signal Corps officers, pictured at the Headquarters of the Army of the Potomac in Warrenton, Virginia, October 1863. Featured on page 327 of Smith's ''Photographic History of the Civil War,'' soldiers are identified as General (then Captain) Charles E. Davis, who is leaning on the tree, Captain William W. Watts (standing next to Davis), Lieutenant Frederick E. Beardslee (standing far left), Edwin C. Pierce (seated far right), Captain Fountain Wilson (seated on box), Captain Peter A. Taylor, Lieutenant Adin B. Capron, who was later a Member of Congress (standing in middle), and Lieutenant George J. Clarke, all members of the U.S. Signal Corps.
