About Kagin's: Since 1933

“It was the early twenties, I was selling Colliers magazine, and a lady paid me with an 1883 ‘no cents’ nickel. She said, ‘Sonny, keep this coin, the government made a mistake, and someday this will be valuable.’ That sparked my interest and the hunt was on! After that I went home every night and looked through my change to find more Errors, because I figured if one coin was valuable, other coins could be even more valuable.”

And so began A.M. ‘Art’ Kagin’s lifetime passion with numismatics. Not long after joining the Hollinbeck Coin and Stamp Company, Art established the Kagin family’s first numismatic offices in 1933. Over the next seven decades, Art and his family’s passion for numismatics solidified Kagin’s worldwide reputation as one of the industries preeminent numismatic firms.

Today, that firm is under the capable leadership of Art’s son, Don who continues this tradition leading Kagin’s and furthering the company’s commitment to education: Don lobbied for, and created the United States’ first accredited Numismatic Bachelor’s and Ph.D. programs.

Located in Philadelphia, Kamelot Auctions' home is in the historic Atwater-Kent Building, occupying more than 15,000 square feet. There is an abundance of free parking and major highway access steps from the parking lot make our location a perfect venue for auctions.

This experience has given them substantial insight, and knowledge into what it takes to sort, identify, properly describe, and prepare items for auction.

At check-in and checkout, you will encounter Judie most of the time greeting you with a smile, will quickly get you checked in, and issued a bid card. She will also be there to process you though the checkout process, when you are ready to leave.

On the selling floor, you will find a number of ringmen helping out at different times.

Gidget, the newest addition to our staff, will be found on the selling platform clerking, or recording the bids during the auction. She also helps with setting up the auctions, bulk mailing, and whatever else needs to be done before, during, or after the auction.
