PORCELAIN: Possibly Chelsea (?) porcelain plates but most likely reproductions by Edme Sampson (referred to as Sampson the Imitator) of Rue Beranger in Paris, who was making copies of 18th century porcelain from 1873 for private collector museums. The plates bear the painted over glaze gold anchor mark ( gold could not take the high temperatures of the kiln so the mark had to be applied on top of the glaze and was thus an imitators's dream ) of Chelsea porcelain (1758-1770) but appear to be more likely from the late 1800's in the style of Chelsea, most probably having been made by Sampson.
