Ewbank's also hold monthly Antique and Collectors' auctions each over two days, this means we have three tiers of auctions allowing us to maximise the money we make for our clients and offering a superb range of choice for our customers. As Surrey's leading independent auctioneers we pride ourselves on providing the best service, knowledge and expertise.

Chris Ewbank Chris Ewbank came to Guildford in 1982 and founded Ewbank Fine Art Auctioneers in 1990. In 1994 having initially held auctions at the Hog's Back Hotel, he acquired our present premises the Burnt Common Auction Rooms. It is a very prominent out of town location just off the A3 with acres of parking, ten minutes away from junction 10 of the M25 and about 4 miles from Guildford; Woking main line station is 4 miles with frequent train services to Waterloo (25 minutes). It is an ideal location for our business.

As a family run firm with the highest ethical standards we are dedicated to giving clients and buyers an efficient and friendly service. We have always tried to maintain the highest standards, adhering to the principles of probity and ethics of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and the Society of Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers, of which we are Members. Most of our new clients come to us on recommendation, from professional advisers or existing clients and as the costs of selling by auction in Central London have rocketed we have benefited from the general trend in recent years for more important items to be sold outside the capital. This was illustrated in 2007 when we sold the Robertson Collection of items from the Studio of Francis Bacon. The sale created enormous worldwide interest and achieved a total of over £1M.

Catalogues are produced and circulated to prospective purchasers by post and E-mail. Digital illustrations of all lots in our quarterly Fine Art Auctions and our Specialist Auctions are posted on this site, which receives approximately 1,000,000 page visits per annum. Buyers are attracted from all over the world through www.the-saleroom.co.uk, www.liveauctioneers.com, www.lot-tissimo.com and www.epailive.com reaching buyers in China. Buyers can participate in all of our auctions from a PC anywhere at the time that the auction is actually in progress through live audio and video links. This gives us an enhanced global marketing ability which we see as the way forward for the Fine Art auction profession; our investment in a strategy of embracing technological advances maximises our ability to achieve the best possible prices for our clients.
