<p>Our 13th vintage poster auction in San Francisco includes one of the finest selections of antique posters that we have ever presented. The sale includes 396 poster lots (some 450 posters). There are 100 Advertising posters, a great selection of 36 quality film posters, 140 Travel, Transportation and Sports posters, and quality poster selections to the themes Film, World's Fair, Military & Politics, Circus and Stage, Art and Design and Les Maitres de l’Affiche.

<p>Among the auction highlights are several rare Russian avant-garde posters, including "General" (lot 207) and "Chicago" (lot 208) by the famous Stenberg Brothers. The military and political selection includes the rare American World War I poster "Treat ‘em rough – Join the Tanks" by August William Hutaf. There are also two seldom seen works by German artist Ludwig Hohlwein ("Der Stahlhelm" (lot 275) and "Liste 5" (lot 266)).

<p>The film selection includes three posters for "Die Nibelungen" (lots 188, 189 and 199), the original Italian maquette to the film "Jezebel" (lot 190) and a French four-panel for "The Lost Squadron" (lot 206). Among the other highlights are several zeppelin posters from the 1930s, a rare World’s Fair poster from 1867, two Maitres by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, several American and Canadian railroad and ski posters and a selection of ocean liners from the 1920s through the 1950s.
