Donated by Gemini, G.E.I. World-renowned artist, Robert Rauschenberg is known for assemblage, conceptualist methods and willingness to experiment with non-artistic materials--all innovations that anticipated later movements such as Pop Art, Conceptualism and Minimalism. He also created environmental works that manipulated light, shadow and sound with interaction with the viewer. Printmaking was another aspect of his career, and by the late 1950's, Rauschenberg was incorporating newsprint into his paintings. He began to silkscreen paintings in 1962. His appropriation of images from magazines and newspapers and the union of both two and three-dimensionality mark him as a pivotal figure in art history and the Pop Art movement. His subject matter often focuses on modern urban city-life, revealing his preoccupation with the affects of modernization. <BR>Winner Spinner, 2OOO is a collaged multi-color screen-print, limited edition, and is generously donated by Gemini G.E.I., 8365 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, California, 90069.
