Important Winchester prototype takedown Model 12 Aluminum frame and barrel assembly pump shotgun, 12 gauge, 24” barrel with Deluxe Poly-Choke on muzzle, checkered brown wood grained plastic stocks, #1L. This gun is in overall very good to excellent condition showing polished aluminum under an aged lacquered finish with some bluing present on the loading tube and protected areas under the barrel; fine bore, crisp action, no markings other than the “#1L” on the bottom of the frame and “#1L-S” (for lightweight sample) on the right side of the barrel at the breech. The simulated wood plastic brown stocks are in very good condition with the butt stock displaying a matching sleeve with hard rubber butt plate; there is a slight crack at the bottom of the sleeve that is approx. 2” in length. Winchester’s success with the Model 12 shotgun is legendary and this prototype is highly desirable to shotgun collectors in general and to Winchester collectors in particular.
