Winchester high-wall rifle, .40-70 Sharps straight cartridge, 30” full octagon #3 barrel, blue and case-hardened finish, crescent butt, veneer tang sight, serial #67719. Shows thick side receiver. The barrel retains 75-85% original blue, some minor areas of cleaning at the edges, a couple of marks on the octagon, some just beginning normal age and some slight pinprick pitting and erosion by the breech. The barrel address is sharp, the frame retains 70-80% case hardening with some vibrant colors, particularly on the left side, thinning and drifting on the right. The varnish wood stocks are good to very good with impressions, slight scratches, a couple of impressions and dings, at least good to very good overall. The buttplate shows traces of silvery case hardening. The tang sight shows considerable blue. The Winchester rear buckhorn is in its original dovetail, and the front sight is a globe type with a suspended bead. The action is tight, the bore fine to excellent and very bright.
