Winchester 1885 .40-70 S.S. SN: 65160
'High Wall' Refinished single shot falling-block sporting rifle chambered in .40-70 Sharps Straight, circa, 1893. Features a fully blued refinish, 30" octagonal #3 barrel, blade front sight, adjustable buckhorn rear sight, long range tang sight, thin side receiver, smooth trigger, checkered hammer spur, 's' shaped lever, smooth walnut schnabel forend with ebony inlaid, and straight grip shoulder stock with crescent buttplate. Includes a factory letter confirming it's configuration as original. Rifle retains most of it's blued finish but has an uneven appearance due to the scattered pin prick pitting under the surface. Some of the old pitting has new rust forming in it's crevices. Action performs smoothly, bore is very good and wood stocks are very good with a 1.5" hairline crack extending from the upper tang. Condition is very good as refinished. ***Antique Firearm***
