Manchu Qing Dynasty (c. 1644 ? 1912) - The Qing
rulers came
from outside the Great Wall, in Northeast Asia. The
Qing
Dynasty was the most successful dynasty of conquest
in Chinese
history, and the empire over which it ruled and laid the
territorial
foundations of the modern Chinese Nation-state. The
singular
achievement of the Qing was to incorporate Inner Asian
and East
Asian subjects into a stable multi-ethnic empire. The
PRC ?
People?s Republic of China , established in 1949, is
smaller than
the Qing empire at its peak by the subtraction of the
independent Republic of Mongolia.

Chinese Jade - Although books of jade are recorded in
China as
far back as the Tang Dynasty, most extant examples
were made
at the command of Qing emperors, for whom the
opportunity to
hand down to posterity . The most prized jades, in fact
came
from lands to the west of China Proper, but it is notable
that
these areas were brought into the Qing empire
following the
Qianlong Emperor?s military campaigns of the 1760s.
As such,
jadeite was first used in China in the 18th century
when it was
imported from Burma.

White Jade ? Pure white jade has always been in
demand by
collectors, particularly pieces finely carved during the
18th
century when intricate carving was at its peak. Large
stones of
white jade are quite rare and values increase
dramatically in
accordance with size.
