This is a fine example of a 1941 Mauser production P.08 luger. These models exhibited the start of the "P.08" frame markings on the left side of the pistol. The top of the chamber is dated "41" and the toggle is marked "byf", the new war time code for the Mauser factory. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the double "Eagle 655" Waffenamt" proof next to the single eagle firing proof, which is also marked on the left side of the barrel. The underside of the barrel is also marked with the matching serial number, along with the bore marking of 8,81. It has the correct "GESICHERT" and " GELADEN" markings. As noted, this model has the all dark blue/black metal finish with checkered walnut grips. Complete with one all blued, milled magazine that is marked on the sides with "fxo/eagle 37/P.08" markings with the aluminum base marked; "2167t" with the reinforcing pin through the center.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 2167t
Condition: Very fine with 75% of the faded original blue finish showing wear and blue loss on the edges and high spots overall with some thinning on the grip straps, with some very minor pin-prick pitting around the center section of the barrel. The markings are clear and sharp. The grips are also in very good condition with a nice matching dark brown color on both grip panels with minor wear across the tops of the checkering with some minor pressure dents. The pistol has all matching numbers except the magazine as noted above and the firing pin which is unnumbered.
