Also known as the Virginia-Richmond Flintlock Pistol, these pistols were manufactured circa 1812 to 1815 with a total production of only approximately 4,252. Styled directly after the Harpers Ferry Model 1805 pistol, it features a 10 inch round, 54 caliber barrel with a brass blade front sight, solid under rib and iron swivel ram rod with a button style head. It has the early designed small double yoke hammer, serrated barrel wedge, wide barrel band and rifled barrel. The "IA" from Virginia is visible on the lock ahead of the hammer and "RICHMOND" in a downward arch over "1812" is marked behind the hammer. The barrel is correctly unmarked. The pistol is mounted with a smooth walnut half stock with brass mountings. These pistols are considered secondary Confederate arms.
BBL: 10 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 54
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: NSN
Condition: Good as refurbished. The pistol has been wire brushed blue finish applied to the barrel and lock, with overall scattered minor pitting. The brass remains, for the most part, bright. The reoiled stock is good. The grip cap appears to be a period replacement that is ill-fitting and there is a minor crack on each side at the end of the cap extension, otherwise there are some scattered minor dents and scratches. As noted above the lock marking is partially visible, otherwise the markings are readable. The action is fine. A solid example of a rare Virginia Manufactory 2nd Model flintlock pistol that has managed to survive for 200 years.
