Measuring 13 5/8 inch overall, the 8 1/2 inch blade is etched "Meine Ehre heisst Treue" (My Honor is Loyalty) on the obverse, with the "RZM" logo over "15/39" (Carl & Robert Linder, Solingen, 1939) and the SS runes. The hilt is of the SA pattern, with nickel fittings, brown wood and enamel "SA" medallion. With a brown finished SA pattern sheath and a brown leather belt hanger. The origin of this mixed arrangement is unknown; the SS had already split off from the SA by 1939. This dagger can be seen on page 59 of MAJ. John R. Angolia's Daggers, Bayonets & Fighting Knives of Hitler's Germany, where it is stated that a GI capture the weapon in this configuration in 1945, and speculates that the original owner may have started in one group and transferred to the other during his service time.
