Unique Left Handed Peter White Full Stock Percussion Pennsylvania Rifle

Estimate: $2500 - 4500
Brass blade front sight and dovetailed notch rear, with "P.L. White" on the top flat of the barrel, a drum-style bolster, lightly border engraved hammer and lock, with double set triggers. The lock is unusual, being installed on the left side of the arm instead of the right, a configuration typically reserved for arms that also reverse the cheekpiece to make a "left handed" weapon. Brass tipped stock, with a wooden ramrod, hand rest trigger guard, light scrollwork on the reverse plate, "LR" on a silver inscription panel on the wrist, raised right handed cheekpiece with eagle-engraved silver panel, floral decorated brass patch box and a smooth brass buttplate. Consignor notes identify the maker as Peter White of Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, circa 1821-1834.
