Unique Gold Inlaid and Engraved Michael Veit Damascus Dagger with Ivory Handle
This is a spectacular example of a gold inlaid and engraved Damascus dagger handcrafted by Michael Veit of LaSalle, Illinois. Blade magazine has called Michael Veit the "Heartland Knifemaker" and states that Veit's knives are "Turkish Damascus delights". This dagger features an 8 1/2 inch blade marked "Michael Veit". The blade, guard, and pommel are Damascus with a matte blue finish. The underside of the guard features a coin finished scroll engraving which retains the Damascus pattern and is accented with a gold inlaid border. The unique coin finished engraving extends to the base of the acorn shaped pommel. With the exception of the blade, the Damascus components feature simple, but elegant, gold scrollwork and/or gold band inlays. The pommel is signed by the engraver, "R E STAGGS". The fluted ivory handle is adorned with twisted gold wire. OAL: 15"
