Model 1816 Type III Flintlock Musket manufactured by N. Starr of Middletown, Connecticut. The musket has the characteristic Type III 'Arsenal Bright' finish with reinforced sling swivel mount of the trigger guard. The lock plate is marked "MIDLTN / CONN / 1837" over sun-type marking vertically behind the hammer. The lock is marked with "US" above a sunburst (very faint) with "N. STARR" in a half- circle below it. The barrel tang is dated "1831". The breech end of the barrel is marked "US / DT / P", with "US" on the buttplate tang. Complete with a "US / NS" marked socket bayonet and an iron ramrod.

Condition: Good. The musket is mostly a smooth brown patina with some minor pitting and spotting. There is a deep gouge ahead of the trigger guard, otherwise the stock very good with a few hairline cracks, and some minor dings and scratches. Hammer does not hold at the full cock position. The bayonet has a smooth brown patina with some minor pitting and spotting.
