This lot features a U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Bayonet & Scabbard. The model 1873 bayonet and scabbard was made for the iconic Indian Wars and Spanish American War Trapdoor Springfield Rifle, caliber .45-70 that was in service from 1873 up until the end of the 19th century. This example is in good condition with the leather belt loop scabbard top with brass “US” insignia intact and in excellent condition, fine deep blue on the metal scabbard and the bayonet itself still retains most of the high polish arsenal blue. All correct U.S. stamping on the upper portion of the blade. The bayonet blade measures 18"
