U.S. Remington Model 1871 Army Rolling Block Pistol with Holster
Manufactured from 1872 to 1888. The left side of the frame is marked "REMINGTON ILION N.Y. U.S.A. / PAT. MAY 3D NOV. 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1866". There is no visible serial number. There are "P" and "S" acceptance makings on the left side of the frame with the noticeable hump at the rear and a boxed "CRS" cartouche on the left grip. The blade front sight is fixed on top of the unmarked barrel and the rear sight is a notch in the breechblock. Blue with casehardened frame and trigger guard and bright hammer and breechblock. Complete with an unmarked later production commercial leather flap holster.

Fine. The barrel retains approximately 60% original blue finish remaining (strongest on the underside) with the balance a smooth gray patina. The frame retains approximately 75% of the original case colors with the balance a smooth gray patina with some minor spotting (mostly on the grip straps). Overall the wood is fine with some minor scratches and dings. The forearm and grip have a few light chips near the frame, with an additional large chip absent on the grip (left side). The grip cartouche is clear and crisp. The later production holster is good with even minor flex wear. Some absent stitching has been replaced with metal wire.
