U.S. Model 1836 Waters Contract Percussion Conversion Pistol
Percussion conversion of a Model 1836 Pistol originally manufactured by Asa Waters of Millbury, Massachusetts in 1843. The pistol has a swivel ramrod and strap on the barrel band that extends to the side plate. The buttcap is integral with the iron backstrap. The cone type percussion conversion replaced the hammer, with brass pan cut down (not flush with lock). The lock plate is marked with an eagle head above "A. WATERS/MILBURY.MS. / 1843" next to "S". The left side of the barrel is marked "U.S. / JH / P". The left stock flat is stamped with two inspection marks. Many of these were converted for use in the Civil War.

Good. Overall the pistol has a smooth dark brown patina with the barrel band/side plate, hammer and lock having a smooth gray-brown patina. The barrel has limited minor spotting. The stock is very good with exception of period initials/markings on the left stock flat ("HG"), in front of lock ("HG") and in front of trigger (1843+1938), along with some minor dings and scratches and a few notches on the left stock flat. Mechanically fine.
