Two U.S. Antique Martial Pistols A) U.S. Aston Model 1842 Percussion Pistol
The lock plate is stamped "US / H.ASTON & CO." in front of the hammer and "MIDDtn / CONN / 1852" vertically behind the hammer. The top of the barrel at the breech is marked "US / WN / P" and "B" on the left side. The upper tang has a partial date: "185". The left stock flat is marked with two faint inspector cartouches. Single inspector initials (B and N) are found on most of the components.

Condition: Very good. The iron surfaces have been clean and have a smooth gray patina with a smooth dark patina on the hammer. There is some minor pitting with some deeper pitting on the barrel at the muzzle. The brass has a polished appearance with some minor dings on the buttcap. The stock is also very good with numerous minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.

B) U.S. Waters Contract U.S. Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol
Produced between 1836 and 1844 (this example in 1843). Brass blade front and "U" notch rear sights, with the barrel marked "JH / P" on the left side. The lock plate is marked with an eagle head above "A. WATERS / MILBURY, M.S. / 1843" below the detachable brass flash pan. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a swiveling ramrod, single barrel band attached to the side plate, and a pair of oval cartouches on the left side.

Condition: Very good. The metal surfaces show signs of being cleaned many years ago and have aged to a brown-gray patina with some minor pitting. The stock is fine with crisp cartouches and a couple hairline cracks and some minor handling marks, along with a minor dent behind the hammer. Mechanically excellent.
