Two 18th Century Carved and Scrimshawed Powder Horns
The first horn is approximately 12 inches long , and has a carved spout and flush-fitted wooden base. The body of the horn is carved with simple foliate designs that extend from the base to the spout and cover most of the horn. The spout is missing the plug and the bast has a carved stopper. The horn is in very good condition with a mellow, aged, patina. The second horn has a arved spout and rounded wooden base plug. The bast of the horn is stippled with the legend "THE 5 DAY/ PAUL'S HORN APRIL 1771 AMES" in two lines around the base. The horn is in very good condition with a hair-line crack near the plug.

1) Very good, with a chip absent near the base, a few insect holes and some scattered minor handling marks. 2) Very good with minor cracks near the base and spout, along with some minor scratches.
