Royal Navy officer (1757-1833) known for his leadership during the French Revolutionary Wars, especially for his victory at the Battle of the Nile. Manuscript DS, signed "Tho. Foley," one page, 8 x 12.5, June 22, 1830. Order issued to J. D. Markland, in part: "You are hereby required and directed, to proceed in His Majesty's Ship Briton, under your command, when ready, to Plymouth to follow the Orders of Admiral Sir Manley Dixon." Affixed to a slightly larger sheet. In very good to fine condition, with light stains and wrinkling from old adhesive.
