ALS signed “George E. Mueller,” one page, 7 x 8, NASA letterhead, November 2, 1964. Condolence letter to the widow of Theodore C. Freeman, in full: "I am deeply grieved that you have suffered the loss of your husband, Ted, through the crash of his T-38. You and your family have the heartfelt sympathy of all of us at NASA who worked with him. His loss to the space program will be most keenly felt. If I can assist you in any way during your bereavement, please call on me." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Considered one of NASA's most able managers, Mueller headed the Office of Manned Space Flight from September 1963 until December 1969. Freeman's death was the first fatality of any member of the Astronaut Corps, and his loss was felt throughout the NASA community.
