The Ten Commandments Helmet
Props from Cecil B. Deville's epic "The Ten Commandments" (1956) are extremely sought after, both because of the overwhelming majesty of the movie itself, and because so few props still remain. Between fires in several holding warehouses, the hording of prime props and costumes by collector's and museums, as well as Paramount's reluctance to keep props and sets after they were shot, there are precious few items still available. This is a screen used "Trumpeter's Helmet". The original studio tag inside reads: "B. Chastain - Trumpet". The antique helmet is made of fiberglass, painted red with gold painted trim and gold painted faux-brass Concho-bolting around the band. It's in great shape for its age, but has some natural wear. There are some loose connecting strings on the top of the crown where another ceremonial piece was once attached. Includes Letter of Provenience. (Approx. 8"x11"x6")
