Smith & Wesson Perfected Model 38 Double Action Top Break Revolver
This was the last of Smith & Wesson's top break revolvers to be introduced. Manufactured from 1909 to 1920, this is a unique top break with both a barrel latch and a side thumb release on the left side of the frame. It is also the only Smith & Wesson top break revolver to have the trigger guard integral to the frame rather than a separate piece. The front blade sight is a half-moon pinned to the rib and the rear sight is a notch in a raised portion of the barrel latch. Two line address/ patent dates on top of the barrel rib flanked by Maltese crosses. Five-round fluted cylinder with auto ejector. Casehardened trigger and hammer and replaced mother-of-pearl grips. All serial numbers match.
BBL: 5 inch solid rib

Fine, with 70% of the original nickel finish remaining. There is some heavy spotting and moderate pitting on both side of the barrel and cylinder, along with some lighter spotting overall and a few areas of dark brown patina. Grips are very fine, with a few light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
