Smith & Wesson Model 320 revolving rifle, .320 S & W rifle cal., 20” round barrel, blue finish, checkered red mottled grips and fore stock, with detachable wood stock and rear tang sight, serial # on the gun is #612 and on the stock #763. This scarce (only 977 total made) Smith & Wesson is in overall very good condition showing a factory star on the butt indicating a return to the factory, which in this case appears to be for a quality re-finish of metal surfaces that display approx. 99% of that blue with a very good bore, crisp action, very good markings, grips and stock. The wood shoulder stock is also in very good to fine condition showing considerable original blue on the metal link arm, a niter blue on the tang sight and very good wood with the correct checkered and monogrammed gutta percha black butt plate. Factory letter confirms the blue finish, barrel length, grips and stock and the fact that the gun had been returned to the factory for refinish in August of 1953. The gun was shipped to John P. Lovell & Co., Boston, MA on December 14, 1881. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
