Sharps model 1a .22 rimfire cal. pepperbox derringer gold plated w/magnificent double-high relief carved pearl grips #22611. The derringer shows original to the period carved in high relief pearl grips with checkered border. The left grip shows a stand of arms, union type shield w/single star and flags one showing a knights style cross. The right grip shows the fancy letter "S" (possibly Sharps) with leaves, flowers, and matching checkered border to left grip. The bbl shows 50 - 60 % blue going to patina and darkening, the frame shows 90% rich original gold gilt and grips are very good plus to near fine w/just slight wear to high points of carving and no abuse or losses what so ever. This Sharps has been in many famous collections and the general consensus is that this pistol was a factory display gun assoc. with Christian Sharps. Original double carved grips are rare and this is one of the best sets of pearl grips known on cartridge derringers. Tom Seymour Collection. Est. $5,000 - $10,000.
