Set of 5 antique resin pots from South France
Set of 5 antique Resin pots from Landes(Southwestern France) These clay pots were used, in the 1800's (made between early 1800's to mid.1800), to collect resin from pine-trees. Pine resin was collected manually by resiniers, who 'hurt' or damaged the pine tree trunk so that it 'bleeds'. The raw resin, which of itself has little commercial use, was then distilled to produce two products: turpentine, and rosin (colophane in French). In some parts of Southwestern France, resin-tapping had been done since the Middle Ages and before. Size: about h-5"/ diam-5.5" Because the clay pots were hand-made in mid.1800's, each one is unique (the photos enclosed are to show samples...possible little difference in shape and colors). Due to their age, none will be in brand new condition. Sometimes, there are OLD chips but they are antique pots (not reproduction) which have wear and tear due to their age. Can be used for topiaries, plants, potpourri, decoration, etc. A small part of France in your home! This price is for THE SET of 5 pots For the shipping...we ship from Texas (not from France)!
