(TCF, 1968) This complete screen used orangutan costume is mounted on a custom flexible mannequin boasting a stunning silicon head of Dr. Zaius (made using appliances from Maurice Evans' mold), prosthetics grade glass eyes and hand punched human hair. The costume was made originally for the classic Planet of the Apes and used subsequently in all the sequels and the TV series. It consists of a screen used tunic with leather collar and the ultra-scarce Ape Glyphs, screen used pants and replicas of the super-distinctive Apes shoes, which look like hands. Orangutan costumes from the original Planet of the Apes films are among the hardest costumes to find - it's estimated less than 20 were made, very few of which survive. This particular example, which shows minimal wear, is in the finest state of preservation we've ever encountered.
