Measuring 16 1/2 inches long, with a silver finished brass yoke configured for a 4-screw Model 1851 Navy Revolver, numbered "78530" on the lower tang and butt hook, and again on the heel of the buttplate. The main body is walnut, with a pewter screw top installed just ahead of the comb and a sling swivel on the underside. Produced in limited numbers during the 1850s, the canteen stock concept was intended to ease a soldier's burden by replacing two pieces of gear with a single piece which could perform both tasks, and like the later coffee mill Sharps or the trowel bayonet, the idea did not catch on.

Serial Number: 78530
Condition: Very good overall. 30% of the finely aged silver remains on the brass hardware, chiefly on the tangs, with a few light cracks up towards the tip, edge wear, and dents. Mild dings and scratches are present on the wood, which has been lightly cleaned. A rare Colt accoutrement, and a fine addition to a collection of percussion Colt revolvers.
