San Ildefonso Olla by Barbara Gonzales (1947 - ). 10.5" x 11.75" rough-surfaced, black micaceous clay olla with sgraffito designs of an Avanyu beneath rain clouds, accented with turquoise and coral cabochons. Eight projections are pushed out from the upper part of the pot, each etched and stone embellished. The rim is sienna fired and has a sgraffito spider sitting inside, decorated with two coral cabochons. Barbara's spiders symbolize good luck. Signed on base: Tahn Moo Whe (her Indian name given to her by her great-Grandmother Maria Martinez, it translates to Sunbeam).
