SERRE, Jean Puget de la.- Le brevière des courtisans. Enrichy d'un grand nombre de figures. Brusselles, François Vivien, 1630. In-8° : [20]-304 pp., frontisp., 2 portraits, 7 fig. à pl. page dont 6 comptées dans la pagination (annot. mss au verso du front., soulignements à la plume passim). Rel. de Champs : plein maroquin rouge, plats sertis d'un triple filet doré, dos fleuronné doré à nerfs, double filet sur coupes, tr. dorées sur marbrure, dentelle intér. dor.
Intéressante iconographie allégorique gravée par P. de Jode, Ph. de Mallery et E. Van Schoor d'après Nicolas Van Horst par laquelle l'auteur a voulu opposer la vie de jouissance des courtisans aux souffrances du Christ, le tout arrangé en sept tableaux suivant les sept offices, des matines au complètes. Les feuillets liminaires présentent une signature irrégulière. Ils renferment outre le titre orné d'une vignette représentant le Bon Pasteur, l'épitre dédicataire à Jehan, comte de Tilly (4 pp.), des stances (4 pp.), l'épitre dédicataire à Charles-Eusèbe, prince de Liechtenstein (6 pp.), l'avis au lecteur (2 pp.), le sommaire du privilège et l'avis de la censure (1 p. chacun). Le frontispice figure S. Jérôme au désert, suivi des portraits de Charles-Eusèbe et de l'auteur dont le dernier dû à C. Galle. Rarissime édition originale de cet opuscule particulier. Exemplaire de toute fraîcheur habillé d'une belle reliure.

Payment will be made in Euro's. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 EUR or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Euro's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
