SALESMAN SAMPLE REAPER WITH ORIGINAL CARRYING CASE.
Words cannot convey the beauty and intricacy of this salesman sample reaper. From top to bottom, left to right the brass works and finished wood come together to create a truly phenomenal piece of machinery. The smooth operation of the many fine toothed gears, chain drive apparatus and mechanics work together in one of the finest salesman samples this company has ever had the pleasure of offering. When rolled along the floor the elaborate gear mechanism to the right of the driver connects to a chain driven forked jointed "arm" that sweeps around clockwise grabbing the recently cut hay from the brass sickle bar, which is then fluffed and churned by the two part brass paddle to a wagon that would follow along side The formed brass saddle seat rests on springs to the left of a hand lever that raises and lowers the jointed wooden tow bar. A smaller lever on the floor in front of the driver activates the brake while a third lever at the front of the platform engages and disengages the gear mechanism. This entire platform is hinged and can be flipped up to view the gear arrangement underneath. While the actual machine model is unknown, gear box is stamped on the right "J. F. Werner Model Maker & Machinist 62 Centre St N.Y.". Included is its original wrench as well as a small canister of loose parts (which may or may not belong to this model). Housed within its original formed metal carrying case with fitted wood inserts. SIZE: 16" w x 13" d (excluding tow bar) x 6" h. CONDITION: Very good to near excellent with just minor sorrows such as minor chips to finish, a small sliver of wood missing from the proper right side, sweeper arm paddle is detached but present, one seat spring needs to be re-soldered and tow bar latch has small solder repair. Case is very good with even oxidation to exterior and uniform wear to the interior. 1-13380
