Charles M. Fassett was an experienced miner who ran his own drugstore and assaying business in Ruby Hill, then worked with Stowell in Eureka before moving with him to Spokane. Fassett advertised himself as a “chemist and druggist” in the Ruby Hill Mining News in October 1880. Within a year, he had purchased Welch’s Ruby Hill Drugstore. Dr. E. Thiele’s Pioneer German Drug Store was the only Ruby Hill competitor, though there were several drug stores in Eureka only 2 miles away. Fassett ran an enterprising drug and dry goods store in Ruby Hill from 1881 to 1887, and also acted as Postmaster in 1884 and was a member of the state assembly for Eureka county in 1885. Ruby Hill no longer exists, making this an extremely rare and highly desirable ghost town bottle. Note the misspelling in Fassett’s embossed name. This is a 5” tall by 1.5” by 2” wide oval bottle. “Chas. M. Fassitt/ Druggist/ Ruby Hill Nev.” Ornate “CF” monogram embossed above text. Bottom embossed maker’s mark “WT & Co/ AA”. Tooled top. Clear glass, one bubble on bottom, some interior staining. Professionally repaired by Marty Hall, so good we can’t find it. This is one of the great Nevada rarities.
