This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth wax sculpture titled "Roman Chariot". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. This sculpture shows a Roman warrior driving a quadriga. Quadrigas were emblems of triumph, in classical mythology, the quadriga is the chariot of the gods; Apollo was depicted driving his quadriga across the heavens, delivering daylight and dispersing the night. The figures are beautifully carved and show wonderful detail. The sculpture is in good condition. It has been signed by the artist G.C. Wentworth and is dated "1974".
