Remington-Elliott single shot derringer nicknamed "Mississippi", .41 cal., 2-1/2" barrel, silver finish, varnished wood grips, #431 showing approx. 60%-80% darkened old silver plate which is just beginning to drift and has gone to a nice patina.The grips are good to very good with approx. 75%-85% varnish, the hammer shows most of its original blue; the action is good, the bore slightly rough. It is hard to determine the exact amount of finish on the pistol as to the darkenedsilver which we would not clean; per Flayderman's, less than 10,000 manufactured between 1867 and 1888. (Antique).
