This lot features a great example of a Remington Arms Inc. Model 1902 7x57mm Rolling Block Rifle. The rifle features a 30" blue'd barrel, casehardened receiver, No.5 rolling block action, adjustable rear sight, and cleaning rod. These fine single shot rifles were the last of the famed Rolling Block action arms made by Remington. They were made on the large frame smokeless powder No.5 action. Considered the best and strongest of the type, these muskets were especially popular in all Spanish speaking countries from Mexico down through South America where the 1895 Mauser was the standard rifle in 7mm chambering. This model weapon was also very popular during the Mexican Revolution on both sides of the border. The 7 MM Mauser was the caliber that the Spanish used so successfully in Cuba during the Spanish-American War that led to the U.S. developing the famed .30-06 Springfield rifle. This is a Excellent original example with deep barrel blue and original sights, very tight action, bright bore with strong rifling, and complete stock, forend and handguard (which is usually missing on this model), Excellent Remington markings and patent dates on the upper tang. This is a Curio & Relic firearm. FFL transfer or NICS background check required. There is no serial number.
