Offered for sale is a Remington #5 Model 1901 7x57 Rolling Block Rifle. The rifle features a 30" barrel, walnut stocks, adjustable rear sights, cleaning rod, and blue'd finish. These fine single shot rifles were the last of the famed Rolling Block action arms made by Remington. They were made on the large frame smokeless powder No.5 action. Considered the best and strongest of the type, these muskets were especially popular in all Spanish speaking countries from Mexico down through South America where the 1895 Mauser was the standard rifle in 7mm chambering. This model weapon was also very popular during the Mexican Revolution on both sides of the border. The 7 MM Mauser was the caliber that the Spanish used so successfully in Cuba during the Spanish-American War that led to the U.S. developing the famed .30-06 Springfield rifle. The rifle shows good condition with handling marks and much of the finish worn off. The mechanics are tight and smooth, with a bright bore with strong rifling. This is a Curio & Relic firearm. FFL transfer or NICS background check required. The serial number is 618904.
