Manufactured post 1932 during the clean-up of production which took a few years. This particular rifle is pictured and identified by serial number on page 276 of Ned Schwing's book "Winchester Slide-Action Rifles", Volume I. Standard left rear barrel markings, including the Winchester oval proof on the top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. Dovetailed blade front sight and early adjustable #30A rear sight with the marking "PAT. JAN. 29. 1901" and is equipped with a special order short range Lyman tang sight. Due to the cost of the tang sights, buyers didn't want to pay the extra cost, so it is rare to see a Model 06 with a factory installed tang sight. Mounted with a 12 groove forearm and smooth straight grip stock with a checkered black hard rubber buttplate.
BBL: 20 inch round
Gauge: 22 SLLR
Serial Number: 852444
Condition: Excellent plus. The rifle retains 97% original blue finish with some minor muzzle wear and some thinning on the forward portion of the magazine tube and wear on the breech end from normal cycling of the action. The wood is also excellent with a few minor scrapes on the left side of the stock and overall a few minor dings. The markings remain sharp and clear. The action is excellent.
