Rare American J. Bandle Cincinnati Ohio Marked Percussion Gallery Rifle with Tube Sight
Designed for indoor target shooting, a long hinged rod connects the hammer to the striker, which is located only 7 inches down from the muzzle (almost identical to a German Zimmer Scheutzen). A pair of empty dovetail slots are visible on the barrel, which has been fitted with a brass tube sight, peep rear and wire crosshair front, and marked "J. BANDLE/ 260 MAIN ST. CIN. O.". Lock plate is unmarked, with engraved screws, double set trigger and finger and handrest spurs on the nickel trigger guard. Checkered straight grip stock with carved Schnabel tip, asymmetrical carved wavy lines on either side of the barrel, skip-line checkered wrist with brass tack decoration, silver inlay of a squirrel on a branch on the right and an engraved patriotic American shield on the left, with a nickel finished brass buttplate.

Condition: Fine, with 40% of original blue on the barrel, which has turned a mixed plum/ gray patina. Mild spotting and flaking is visible on the nickel. Stock is fine, with a few hairline cracks at the barrel, lock plate and butt, along with varnish loss and scratches. Sight is good, with the crosshair damaged and an aged patina on the tube. Action is excellent.
